New funding from Drax Foundation to support ALIenergy activities in Argyll
The Drax Foundation, the charitable entity of renewable energy company Drax Group (Drax), has announced funding amounting to £505,070 for six non-profit organisations across the regions where it operates in England and Scotland.
Amongst this ALIenergy has received £100,000 to support both Affordable Warmth and STEM education activities across Argyll and Bute. Starting in the Autumn this year the funding will be very timely for helping households in the area preparing for the winter and enable working with schools returning after the summer break.
Lynda Mitchell, CEO of ALIenergy:
‘The team at ALIenergy is delighted to receive funding from the Drax Foundation to increase both affordable warmth work and educational activities in Argyll and Bute. This work is much needed with energy prices still sky high and rural households in particular struggling with expensive forms of heating. The region is underserved in terms of facilities and yet renewable energy is a strong growth area due to abundant natural resources. STEM skills are highly in demand by employers but young people in the area are often unaware of the diversity of local opportunities.’
