Improving Lives on Islay and Jura

Julie Semple from Bute Advice Centre (BAC) and our own Rachel McNicol visited Islay recently to promote Argyll & Bute Council’s Flexible Food & Fuel Fund. Rachel and Julie were able to talk with island residents about what BAC and ALIenergy can do to help prople living on Islay and Jura. The ABFFF Fund is now in its 3rd round, offering payments of £160 to £1060 dependant on household. The help can be obtained by applying through Bute Advice Centre.

During the visit they were also able to meet with some clients to offer advice and support on various energy issues and budgeting.

They also met several people from other local organisations that provide services on the islands, including: Tom Skinner (Islay Energy Trust), Angie Greenhill (pictured below) and the Carers Group she supports, Kirsty Izat from South Islay Development Trust, Martyn Chandler (MacTaggart Leisure Centre), Cllr Dougie McFadzean and Bronwen Currie from the Islay Foodbank.

Rachel commented “It was lovely to meet so many dedicated people working across different sectors all trying to improve the lives of those living on Islay and Jura.”

If you were unable to meet them during the trip and would like to chat with an advisor from ALIenergy or Bute Advice Centre. please get in touch to set up an online meeting.
