Oban Community Event (3rd March 2018)

Community Engagement

We held an Energy Information Event on Saturday the 3rd of March, from 2.30pm to 6.30pm in Glencruitten Church Hall. The purpose of this event was to invite the Oban community along to learn about the Local Energy Oban project, help us to understand what matters most to them and to help set priorities for the development of the Plan moving forward. The event also brought together a number of local organisations to promote their own services and identify how they fit in to local energy themes.

As well as the hot drinks and cakes (much appreciated with the Beast from the East still in town!) there was an educational corner for children which included our Energy Art Competition. This was won by Cameron McEwan with his bin tracker idea for smarter, more energy efficient refuse collection. The judges thought this would be an innovative idea, especially in and around Oban where the service covers such a large and diverse local area. Cameron won a £20 gift voucher kindly donated by Oban Phoenix Cinema and will probably be taking his family to see Early Man or Black Panther.

Please see the link below to our Priority Setting Questionnaire. The aim of this is to gather the opinions of the Oban community in order to help us understand what local energy themes are most important to them. These key themes will be then be discussed and developed further during the focus group stages of the project, for which more information will become available soon. Please follow the link to submit your answers online.
