Education - ‘Sustainable Us’ poster competition

In January, a poster competition was organised by Argyll and Bute Biodiversity Partnership, ALIenergy and GRAB, was made available to primary schools in Argyll and Bute. Called 'Sustainable Us', the competition encouraged children to think about the different issues that are interlinked in the concept of sustainability.

Councillor Ron Simon, Argyll and Bute Council Deputy Spokesperson for the Economy, Environment and Rural Affairs described Sustainable Us as an “opportunity for Primary School Children in Argyll and Bute to learn about one of the biggest challenges facing mankind, about our responsibilities to the planet and specifically, about how the triad of renewable energies, recycling reducing and re-using of waste and action on biodiversity can lead to a more sustainable future for the earth”.

A number of schools entered the competition, and there was a very high standard. On April 24th, these posters were judged by an Eco schools representative at an event organised by GRAB in the Corran Halls, Oban. Details of the winners are below:
